The revamped beach club officially opened on 22 September 2018 and has heralded in a new era for Discovery Bay, transforming its tired town beach into a destination attracting beachgoers from across the island and around the world. daily, US20 adults, US$10 children 5–11, children under 5 free) was completely reimagined and renovated in 2017-2018 after Guardsman Hospitality, the recreational arm of Kingston businessman Kenny Benjamin's security group, took a lease on the property. I copied this from moonjamaica: Puerto Seco Beach Club (8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. See my photos and decide for yourself whether this is an excursion that should be described as “exclusive” or “world class”. I also felt sorry for the families who weren’t able to feed their kids without standing in a line for an hour, or the seniors who weren’t physically able to stand in line and went without a lunch that day. I was disappointed that I had trusted the shore excursion staff that recommended this as we all had no way to leave until our almost four hours were up. Lastly, the modern showers, washrooms, and amenities were also not as described. The “entertainment” was a DJ playing angry and deafening reggae/rap music by the pool the entire time. I can’t comment on the “bright blue waters” as the designated swimming area was small, shallow and full of people. Luckily we had our own water supply with us. No drinks were included for the exclusive beach break except for water and red fruit punch. The “world class bar” was actually just a counter serving drinks in plastic glasses if you were willing to wait in that line for likely half an hour. The buffet lunch stations were at least 24’ long. The line ups for everything was disgraceful. There was a water park but the children who wanted to visit the “water park” had to wait by groups to get on, so I’m sure there were many disappointed children that day. There was a pool but the beach bar was closed, There was a beach with sand, but it was no where near world class. With the hundreds of visitors arriving by bus and catamaran during the day, as well as the locals, the shallow, stony beach appeared to be full to capacity. The day we were there, the resort was anything but exclusive. It’s brochures touted it as a “postcard worthy day at the beach” for locals and visitors alike with floating island water park, world class bar, pristine beach, ocean side eatery, and to top it off “one of the world’s best beaches” This was a shore excursion from Celebrity Cruise Line that was described as an “Exclusive Beach Break at Discovery Bay with Lunch” It was a 45 minute bus ride, only to arrive at a resort that had been oversold in more ways than one.
